Most residential roofs are completed in one to two days, depending on size and complexity. A straightforward gable roof on an average home is typically a single day for tear-off and installation. A roof with multiple planes, dormers, valleys and complex flashing details takes longer, and so does one where the decking underneath turns out to need replacing once it is exposed. Weather is the other variable — we will not open a roof we cannot get closed before rain. What does not change is the sequence: we protect the property and landscaping first, tear off and inspect the deck, replace anything compromised rather than covering it, install underlayment, ice barrier, flashing and finish material, then walk the job with you, run a magnetic nail sweep and take every scrap of debris away.
