That water reaches the cold overhang, refreezes, and backs up under the shingles. Baffles that keep the channel open, plus membrane at the eaves, are the actual fix.
Do you work in Roslyn and Ardsley as well as the newer parts of the township?
Yes, and they are genuinely different jobs. The 1920s twins and singles around those old rail stops carry steeper planes, deeper valleys and masonry chimneys needing real counterflashing. The post-war blocks are simpler and shallower and usually fail from plain age instead. Is my 1950s roof a repair or a replacement?
It depends what is failing. A split pipe boot, one wind-damaged ridge run, or a badly patched valley on shingles that are still flexible is a repair, and we will say so rather than sell you a roof.
